Progressive. Welcoming. Inclusive.

Most folks don't know it, but Baptist churches are a lot like ice cream. There are many different “flavors” to suit a variety of tastes!

University Baptist Church is progressive, welcoming, and inclusive. The service style is traditional, with some occasional twists. Our doors are open to all kinds of people, all kinds of experiences, and all kinds of questions/learning.

We are glad you are here to check us out! We hope you will find diverse ages and politics and different families and faith situations—all with open minds and a welcoming spirit.

At UBC you will find:

  • a caring, tight-knit fellowship that is always ready to welcome newcomers
  • traditional worship with a progressive attitude
  • challenging preaching that touches mind and heart
  • opportunities for service in the community
  • a deep commitment to social justice
  • a place where you can ask questions without fear of judgment
  • exceptional, soulful music
  • progressive theology in which we wrestle with the elusive mystery of God
  • activities for college students and young adults (e.g., Bible study, service, social events)
  • a church that takes love seriously
